Journal:
This trip was a 7 minute drive from our
house. The trip there was a smooth ride using the new kayak carrier foam
blocks and cam-buckled straps (Thank you Vagabond Outfitters).
Parked at the Sandwich side of the
Boardwalk in a parking lot about 12 feet from the put-in area which was
gravel and sand (but which extends to very smelly thick and deep mud at
low tide)
Set out 20 minutes before high tide and
paddled on Mill Creek for about an hour. Very calm, but a small inland
breeze - so no bugs (!!) Several canoes in the distance.
The marshes were flooded up to the top
couple of inches of very green grasses. The water was so clear that
the flooded creek banks were visible 2 or 3 feet below us.
Turning left from the put-in spot took us
under the Boardwalk bridge. Apparently, dive-bombing just behind paddlers
is a sport here. Must remember to bring super-soaker
squirt guns for next visit!
Really appreciated the ease of paddling
with the tide.
